Dog Licenses must be renewed between January 1 - January 31, 2020 to avoid late fines.

While pets are welcome in our Village, dog licences are required and irresponsible owners are subject to prosecution. Dogs running at large are subject to impoundment.

If you are new to the Village or have a new dog, you need to register your pet at the Village office to get a dog licence. If you pet is spayed or neutered, documentation is required when first registering your dog. 

Licenses must be renewed annually at the beginning of each year before January 31st.

Dog License Fees
License Fee for each neutered/spayed dog $15.00
License Fee for each unaltered dog $35.00

There is a maximum of 3 dogs per owner. Any person with more will be grandfathered, however if any dogs over the 3 limit no longer exist, they will not be permitted to be replaced. Grandfathered in owners of more than 3 dogs will be subject to a Dog Fanciers Fee as well as a the licensing fees for the dogs.

When licenses are renewed after January 31st of the current year there is a penalty.

Lost Tag?

Replacement License Tag Fee $5.00

Providing False or Misleading Information $100.00
Owner of a licensed dog not wearing a license tag while off the Owner's property $50.00

Our Dog Control Bylaw is enforced by Klassic Kennels Animal Control Services. To contact our animal control officer if you have an animal related issue in Delburne, please call 403-506-9380. Their hours of operation for non-urgent calls are 9 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday. If you have an after-hours emergency, please call the above number and the answering service will put you through to an on-call officer.

If you have a dog complaint, please fill out the Dog Complaint Form and return it to the Village Office. 

*Please note that by filing a dog complaint you must be prepared to go to court in the event of a court case.

If you are complaining about a barking dog, it must be tracked for 5 days before we can take any action. Page 2 of the Dog Complaint Form has a tracker spreadsheet for you to use.

Off Leash Dog Park

Delburne has a fenced, off-leash area located on the DECRA grounds between the outdoor rink and the skate park. This is a great space to let your furry fido run unabashedly! Otherwise, all dogs must be leashed while in public spaces. All park areas are designated "No Dogs Allowed" that must be adhered to and are subject to fines.
