March 25, 2020

Village of Delburne – Effective immediately, all playgrounds in the Village of Delburne have been closed to the public.

At the March 24, 2020 Council meeting the decision was made to close all playgrounds for public safety due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The closure encourages social distancing and helps prevent the spread of the virus.

A recent study in the New England Journal of Medicine found that the COVID-19 virus remains on metal and plastic surfaces for up to 72 hours. Frequent disinfection of the playground equipment would be challenging, so for public protection it is important to discontinue use until further notice.

Walking trails and pathways in Delburne remain open to the public but residents are reminded to keep to the recommended two metre distance between people you pass when out in public. Avoid touching garbage cans and other objects or surfaces while you are out and make sure to wash your hands when you return home.

The Village of Delburne Council and staff are making every effort to keep the community safe and healthy. For Village updates and information on the COVID-19 outbreak, visit www.delburne.ca.
