Council Passes 2026 Tax Rate Bylaw

Village of Delburne Council passed Bylaw No. 1216/2026, the 2026 Tax Rate Bylaw, at the April 14th meeting. The General Municipal Levy did not need to be increased because there has been an assessment growth of 1.1%. The General Municipal Levy is the portion of the property tax that the Village retains to fund operations and services.
There are 3 requisitions set by the Government of Alberta which the Village collects and transfers to the Province. These requisitions are:
- Alberta School Foundation Fund (ASFF)
- Homes for the Aged / Seniors Foundation
- Police Funding
For 2026:
- Homes for the Aged/ Seniors Foundation has not changed.
- Police Funding has increased by 7.4%.
- The ASFF has increased by 9.9% for residential properties and decreased by 0.38% for non-residential properties.
Overall, the residential tax will be 2.8% higher and the non-residential tax will increase by 0.07%.
Property assessments will affect the amount of property taxes owed. The deadline to appeal your assessment is April 28, 2026. The appeal must be filed using the Government of Alberta “Assessment Review Complaint Form” (Number LGS1402), which is available by contacting the Village Office at 403-749-3606 or by going online to: https://www.alberta.ca/municipal-property-assessment-complaints-and-appeals

Property Tax Notices will be mailed in May. Payment is due on or before June 30, 2026. A 15% penalty will be applied on July 1, 2026.
